Editorial Policies
Focus and ScopeKairos, the Journal of Critical Symposium is the journal of the Postcolonial Studies Association of the Global South (PSAGS) and in that capacity, it is expected to articulate representative viewpoints and positions of the association. There are numerous other journals, currently available, devoted exclusively to South Asian studies. But Kairos claims to have a singular niche as it would not restrict itself to specific area studies and would, therefore, navigate hitherto unexplored domains of epistemic debates and issues related to the Global South. In that way, Kairos has a much broader and larger scope because it transcends the South Asian territoriality and encompasses other existing and emerging domains of what is known as the Global South. It seeks to devote on the Middle East, its continued political and social flashpoints, as well as to emerging trends in Africa and even on indigenous and aboriginal writings and issues hailing from Canada or even Australia. Kairostherefore, re-defines the conceptual paradigm of the Global South as it perceives all subjugated voices even within the ‘First World’ as the subalternised global ‘world of the third’. It is not a journal of mere literary studies as it clearly has a trans-disciplinary outlook and modes of enquiry. It would therefore, revisit literary, cultural and theoretic trajectories to fashion a new platform of epistemic alternatives. Its primary areas of focus would be re-colonization or neo-colonization, neo-empire, emerging and existing tropes of peripherality, new social movements and alternative voices within the literary-cultural canon.
